I am not sure how much I have shared about Georgia's heart condition. The condition that she has is called Tetralogy of Fallot which means that she has 4 different things that are funky in her heart. This is a condition that is treatable with open heart surgery here in the States with fairly high success rates. It is not commonly done in China because it is a very complicated surgery and very expensive. In the States children are treated within the first months of life (Georgia is now 21 months old).
We have been working with a handful of different medical professionals who have all looked at her file but her medical file is from when she was 12 months old. A lot can happen in 9 months! Right now we have heard many different opinions about her health a honestly there is so much that we just will not know until we get her home and checked out. We are committed to our little girl no matter what and know that the Lord has chosen her to be our daughter.
My prayer request is this. We need great clarity and insight about whether or not she needs oxygen on the plane ride home. We have had two medical professionals tell us that she will not survive the flight without it. Getting access to oxygen on a plane is a complicated thing and needs lots of advance time to fill out paperwork and needs a letter from a cardiologist as well as bringing all of the pediatric tubing etc as we would be giving her the oxygen and managing ourselves on the flight home.
We have, in my opinion, the best International Adoption Pediatrician in the world. After we hit a brick wall with the Cardiologists at Children's (they all said they would not prescribe oxygen without seeing Georgia first which kindof defeats the purpose), he has gone to bat getting answers for us. We got a message from him two days ago saying that he had talked to Georgia's cardiologist and had some "nice news" for us and that she may not need oxygen and that he would contact us with more information. At first I was thrilled! Everyone wants to know there is "nice news" coming and I would love it if she does not need oxygen! But then we started thinking about it and are concerned about the not needing oxygen thing....especially if her condition has worsened in the last 9 months (the little orphanage reports that we have received indicate that it is, possibly to the point of the beginnings of congestive heart failure).
So could you pray for great clarity and wisdom for us and the doctors? We expect to talk to them in the next few days. Also, could you pray for a medical update from the orphanage? We requested one 8 weeks ago but have not received it. Then one last prayer, for updated pictures. Partially because I am dying to see her sweet face now and the pictures we have are probably from when she was about 9 months old but more importantly they can help the doctors to make decisions as they look at her lips, hands and feet.
I have no doubt that God can answer these requests. I also have no doubt that He will make a way even if He chooses not to answer them and we have to walk blindly into the situation. I trust this scripture with all of my heart:
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to his power that is at work within us,
to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,
for ever and ever! Amen. "

LORD God, I pray that your hand would be upon Georgia right now, that you would enable her to get the oxygen that her body and brain need and that she would be comfortable and calm, that she would feel a sense of your presence there holding her until Shannon and family can hold her themselves. I pray for clarity of thought and divine wisdom as Georgia's mom and dad make plans for her trip home and for her future. May they be of one mind with each other and therefore know beyond doubt your answer to each decision they need to make. I also ask that you give them your peace and remind them often of how much you love this precious little one.

Prayers are definitely going up for you and your daughter! We trust that the Lord will surround her in His hedge of protection and keep her safe until she is home and able to have her much needed surgery.

Thanks guys! We missed a call from the pediatrician while we were at Ravenna's ballet recital. He took Georgia's file home to be able to call us. Hopefully he will call back soon. Thanks so much for the prayers!
