A little bit helps a lot...

I cannot get Haiti off of my mind. It is so far away from my comfortable little home and so hard to imagine the level of destruction that has happened and the life and risk that is now happening....
It has me thinking. How much comfort do I have all around me? How easy is it for me to just write off the suffering in the world and how does the Lord view when I know about something but do not act. Well...I know this much,
Proverbs 24:12
“Once our eyes are opened, we can't pretend we don't know what to do. God who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls knows that we know, and holds us responsible to act.”

I am not writing this to judge or to convict. I am just writing it in case anyone else is hearing that still small voice calling for action. I'm sure that there are many ways to help. I know that the most powerful is prayer so I am committing to pray each evening after the kids go to bed. To take 30 minutes out of my day to come before the Lord for Haiti. Anyone who wants to join me let me know.
Sometimes it feels overwhelming to think of giving when all of our finances are hurting but, what would happen if we all gave what we could, even if it was $5? I believe that God can use that and enough $5 donations can be a lot of aid...think about it. In America $5 does not buy much but when bought in bulk $5 can be a ton of bandaids, surgical gloves, syringes, a lot of water, it can be postage to send more supplies...it can be enough to let the people of Haiti know that they are not alone.
If you feel like you want to give, I know there are many places but here is one. It is very simple and they have over 400 staff who were already in Haiti living and working. It is really a simple click of a button but I believe it can mean so much more than that.

Shannon,
I'm a fellow AWAA Waiting Child mom and my heart was (and of course still is) in exactly the same place. Our church has folks living in Haiti in a children's home and Gwenn has been talking with CNN a lot. I feel so helpless, but I know that crying out to Jesus helps. I'm praying along with you!

I think World Vision is a great organization. But there are certainly other great ones, as well. We all just need to do something... even if it doesn't seem like a great amount, a little can go a long way when we all reach out our hands and join together. There have been some great Etsy shops that also gave 100% of their profits for a 48 hour period the past couple of days, to help those in Haiti. I needed some b-day gifts anyway, so it was the right time to buy and help others along the way. There's SO many ways we can help, and prayer is the one way EVERYONE can help! I'm praying right along with you!! <><

Hugs,
Tanya
