Leaning on the Everlasting Arms...

I am really weary tonight but just had to share a few things.

Georgia continues to a HUGE joy, so full of smiles and hugs...

She is learning that she is funny and doubles over with the best belly laugh I have ever heard,

Then she looks up while covering her mouth, bright eyes sparkling...

and at the same time somehow my heart fills with joy and begging.

Every time that I would hit that spot of feeling like I could not go even one more step...someone would email or leave a comment here, or call...God's perfect timing every time.

(So excited about being tucked in with about a million blankies by her big sister!)

What I never want to forget about today are these two things:

Today Linny did a day of fasting and prayer for anyone who had prayer requests. I added Georgia's to her list.
I woke up this morning so tired and just overwhelmed by the idea of another day of worrying, grieving and waiting/hoping/dreading another episode.

As I stood in the shower praying, God gave me a very clear picture. It was of Georgia and I. I was sitting and holding her in my arms, kissing her cheek. Surrounding us were people kneeling with heads bowed for as far as the eye could see.

That is what got me through this day. Knowing that I was not alone, when I was so scared, that picture would come back...and it made all the difference.

THEN...

Then, Georgia and I were driving to go and pick up her siblings from school and she had a milder version of the episodes I have seen before. The kind that instantly made me sick to my stomach. I pulled over on the side of the freeway and, as semi trucks whizzed by took a recording of her heart.

As we drove on I planned out how to transmit the recording. I planned on stopping by my friend Shelly's house but at the last minute for some crazy reason felt like I should go to Wal Mart to do it instead. I needed to find a bag for Georgia's machine because in carrying it around everywhere, it takes up one of my hands. With three pretty small kids, that is not a good thing!

So, I was pretty rattled from Georgia's spell, worried about the 'worst case' scenario and praying hard that maybe this would be one that would give us some information as I walked in to the store. I went to the customer service desk and there was a huge line. The monitoring place has made it pretty clear that we need to transmit the recording asap and it had already been 15 minutes. So I went to the greeter guy and very simply said, "My daughter has a heart condition and we have a recording device, I need to send a message via phone." And he didn't freak out (hooray)!!!!

He got us to the phone and then left. We did the transmit thing and headed further into the store to find a bag for the machine. While we were walking down the aisle, the same greeter came out of the back. He walked up to me and said, "The Lord just told me to come and pray over your daughter. I could lose my job but honestly, I don't care...it was that clear that I was supposed to do it. She is a mricale and you need to know that."

Then he prayed, knowing little to nothing about the situation...and the things that he prayed for, " a definitive answer from the doctors about what is going on in Georgia's heart."

When he was done, Georgia gave him a big hug. He kissed her, told her he loved her and that she can call him Uncle Mark from now on.

I walked away with tears streaming down my face.

God is so present in this.

I have no idea why we are walking through this nightmare,
or how it will end...

but God could not make it more clear that He is right here, closer than I could ever imagine and that I am not alone.

A friend sent me this verse today:

In my distress I cried to the Lord and He heard me.
Psalm 120: 1

He wants to carry us, He hears our every worry and will not leave us or forsake us. Even in this darkest place.

Please keep praying.

It is our lifeline right now...and the most powerful thing possible.

Your comments and emails are buoying us in incredible ways and God is using each and every one at the perefct time.

Thank you with everything in me.

Your ability to communicate so clearly while going through this is amazing to me! I wish I had some wise words, but again, we are praying for Georgia and your family.

I've been praying. And sweet Georgia's face comes to my mind at the most random times to intercede and to be grateful for her.

And as I read your post... I was struck by how sometimes God allows us to walk through hard things because it's part of the puzzle for OTHERS.

That every single act of obedience (ie: going to Walmart), leads to something that He's doing in someone else's life.

Don't discount how He can use this.

Praying for perseverance as you run this leg. Praying for wisdom and clear direction. Praying for a peace and sweet rest in the midst of the reminders of just why you love that girl so much.

Praying for you and sweet Georgia as you lean into Him for strength.

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.

Psalm 46:1-3

What a gift it was for me to meet your precious family in person on Saturday. I love how God worked that one out.

The Lord is orchestrating the details of this journey of yours and He is being glorified through your dependence on Him.

I will continue to lift you up before our mighty King.

That picture you spoke of with people praying for you and Georgia,as far as you could see, is absolutely beautiful. There are people everywhere bowing their heads to pray. We don't even know you guys other then reading this blog, but I have felt God calling me to pray throughout each day. Yesterday i was in the car and "Mighty to save" started playing. I of course thought about your little girl and began to pray. It's so amazing how our God knows just what is needed, and has an army of prayer warriors putting a hedge up around her..
"I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:19-20

God is so good! It thrills me beyond words to hear that so far every single time Georgia has has trouble, and you've needed to send the recording, that someone - complete strangers - have been there for you! God knows that that is when you need encouragement and prayer, and He's sending His children to help you - although I wouldn't be surprised if they were actually angels ministering to you.

I've been following along and praying for Georgia and you throughout this trial. I hope you don't mind, but I'm also telling other Christians I know about your situation, and asking them to pray for you two. That's the amazing thing about prayer and our God ... people we've never met - never known or heard of - can pray for us, and God knows exactly what is needed.

I saw your prayer request on Linny's site yesterday ... and have you in my mind SO often. The walmart incident yesterday ... oh my goodness ... I am a mess of tears now. God is so good ... and so present as you said. I am so thankful for that man and he boldness to listen to and follow God's leading! I think Walmart is the last place I would expect to find God most days!
I pray that the information the dr.'s need was transmitted through this episode and they will have answers and healing for her beautiful heart!
Hugs and prayers to and over you!

What an amazing blessing for you to have God bring this clerk into your presence to pray with you..and remind you that God loves sweet Georgia so much. Shannon, what you shared here is such a strong testimony for others! It came to me that your journey with your children and especially Georgia needs to be heard by many many people....I hope you will write a book some day about your lives....it would be a testimony to so many!
Please know that I am praying for Georgia and all of you....So many are!

"Those who hope in the Lord
will soar on wings like eagles..
they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Isa. 41

It's a scary thing so I've been reading your posts with great interest. SO THANKFUL that you can feel our Heavenly Father holding you in HIS hands.
