So Thankful....

    Happy late Thanksgiving!!!!!!

This has been such an interesting year...

I found myself reflecting a lot on what is underneath the exterior

  Because right now life can feel so wrapped in worry...

(the tired face we see a lot right now)

I find myself looking at the exterior and I AM thankful for how deeply blessed we are...

Beautiful children...

A marriage that astounds me with how incredible it is...

Family and friends....
Oh so much to be thankful for....

But this year is also one that feels like it is marked by storms, uncertainty, worry....

...at first glance, it is easy to focus on those things, to merely choose thankfulness in spite of them.

But there is something deeper still....
We are standing, we have not fallen, we are being held up in the midst of it....

Time and time again lately Doug and I have clung to each other in tears
and turned to the One true place where we can find the strength to go on....
prayer.

The Lord, once again...
always...
is true to who He says He is:

Psalm 55:8
I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm.

2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

Isaiah 40:28-30
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God,
 the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,   and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
 they shall walk and not faint

Isaiah 41:10
fear not, for I am with you;  be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you,  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

That is the anchor...the foundation. The One thing that cannot, will not be moved.
The thing I am most thankful for?

That foundation that I can return to again and again.

That all compassionate God where I can pour my weary heart out over and over...

He LONGS for me to do that....

...and promises to never leave me,

No. Matter. What.

No matter how large and scary the storm....

...all the way until I am in His arms someday,

Forever.
